Job Description

We are looking for a jump-starter to lead large projects for new product development within the Infection Control & Guidance business unit. This role provides mentoring and project leadership for team members within the Design Engineering team.

Responsible for project management in new product development with a focus on large, innovation projects and programs involving multi-disciplined engineers and/or multi-disciplined teams including both external and internal partners.

Primary Location: United States (US) – Iowa – Coralville

Function: Engineering

Onsite/Remote: Preferred Onsite, eligible for Hybrid/Remote.

This position is eligible for remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As an Engineering Project Manager at CIVCO you will:

  • Project Management:
    • Demonstrate ability to plan, schedule, budget, and manage multiple complicated product development projects simultaneously.
    • Responsible for scoping the total resourcing, milestones, and deliverables required to complete a project
    • Be responsible for product development plans and schedules that include all cross-functional development milestones and gate reviews (Phase 0 - Phase 5) as required by product development and/or innovation processes.
    • Serve as the team leader motivating and driving cross-functional team performance toward achieving the common goal of completing projects according to the defined objectives, on budget and on time.
    • Provide inter/intradepartmental communication and information relating to project status, including executive stakeholders
    • Facilitate communication between internal and external customers on product design, product specification and development issues.
    • Manage external contractor teams if such resources are required on a project

  • Design Engineering:
    • Coordinate with design resources to ensure completion of design and technical activities in accordance with development schedule.
    • Ensure product development documentation (innovation and design control processes) is generated in accordance with development schedule, assists with generation of documentation and facilitates approval of documentation as required.
    • Facilitate and document technical design reviews and stage gate reviews.

  • Quality Assurance:
    • Follow company standard operating procedures and quality engineering principles.
    • Attend all relevant training. Keep informed of relevant developments in technology.
    • Participate in clinical evaluations.
    • Identify opportunities for increases in product development efficiencies and lead team toward implementation of proposed solutions.

• Provide technical and project management leadership within the Business Unit and across the organization as it relates to projects

• Coaches decision-making related to technical design, regulatory, quality and manufacturing considerations within projects

• Clearly defines expectations for project teams and continually drives accountability to results

  • Qualifications:

What Skills You Need

    • Proven track record of documentation, project management, process management, and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
    • Ability to understand, consult, and communicate technical engineering challenges through an understanding of basic engineering principle
    • Success demonstrating interpersonal and management skills.
    • Experience with Microsoft Project.
    • Ability to lead a team in an "influencing” role.
    • Self-starter, able to advance projects with minimal oversight.
    • Understands processes such as heat sealing, injection molding, machining, and assembly. [SC1] [SC2]
    • Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering and four years related[SC3] project management experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What Makes You Stand Out:

    • Experience with both Waterfall and Agile project management execution
    • Knowledge and understanding of compliance to ISO 13485, FDA 21CRF280PMP certification is a bonus, but not required.
    • Previous experience in medical device or other regulated environment.
